What is an Audit Reconsideration?

Audit reconsideration is where the factual results of an audit are challenged and a request is made to reconsider such results.

What is a Tax Appeal?

A tax appeal is a challenge to the way the law has been applied to the results of an audit.  The Appeals Office’s purpose is to attempt to settle tax controversies without the need for trial.  If the taxpayer disagrees with a decision issued by the taxing authority, an appeal can be made to review the decision.

How we can help.

After looking at the tax laws as applied by the taxing authority to your situation, if it looks like an appeal is appropriate, Antonelli & Antonelli, as your tax attorneys, would file a formal appeal on your behalf and represent you throughout the appeal process. Sometimes, Revenue Agents do not interpret Code sections as intended by the legislature.  When this is the case, Antonelli & Antonelli makes an appeal to have the Agent’s decision reconsidered by an independent Appeals Officer.

The Antonelli Advantage

The decision to overturn an Agent’s conclusion is largely based on the quality of the argument put forth by the taxpayer’s attorney. This is why you need an attorney like Richard C. Antonelli, who exhibits intelligence, persistence, experience, and the ability to articulate his argument to the Appeals Officer. As a former IRS Appeals Officer, Mr. Antonelli  knows how to develop the right strategy for a successful appeal and has helped numerous clients avoid the damaging consequences of negative tax decisions.
